Hippie perfume… Used throughout the 60’s and 70’s not just as an excuse not to bathe, as some people claim, but to cover the scent of Smoke, Drink and Drugs on clothing.
Unfortunately, the hippies contributed to the bad reputation of patchouli oil because they were typically wearing very bad synthetic formulations. The association of patchouli with the hippie culture finally resulted in misperception of this raw material, and for most of us today, patchouli is just a synonym for too heady, too overwhelming and too common fragrance.
Patchouli is a wonderful green bushy herb of the mint family and its origins come from India. Its scientific name is “Pogostemon cablin” that comes from Greek words “πώγων (pogon)” and “στήμων (stemon)” which mean beard and stamen.
The herb is graced with delicate pinkish-white flowers and aromatic leaves that have been used for centuries in perfumery, due to their wonderful and strong scent. One of the most wonderful features of patchouli oil is that it becomes even better with aging and because of the wonderful properties of the oil it is widely used in modern perfumery. It is also perfectly combined with lavender essential oil!
Patchouli essential oil contains powerful antioxidant properties that combat wrinkles, it is a cell rejuvenator, excellent for mature skin and because of the wonderful properties of the oil it is widely used in modern perfumery. It treats a number of skin issues such as eczema, dermatitis, rashes, inflamed, chapped, irritated, itchy or cracked skin. It is soothing and non-irritating to the skin.
It also has antifungal properties and a reputation as being an aphrodisiac. It aids in the relief of headaches, depression, anxiety and stress and has a calming and balancing effect on the emotions and it is used in meditation.
Our two fabulous Lavender Rania K. handmade natural soaps, the one for shaving and the other for body care, further than lavender essential oil, they also contain patchouli essential oil for Aromatherapy and are formulated to intensively hydrate the skin and promote elasticity leaving the body soft, supple & soothed. Therefore those who use these soaps feel wellness, refreshed and relaxed.
Ηighly recommended!
Yours Sincerely,
Rania K.
